Nick Clegg is our man. Vote Lib Dem and enjoy a carbon neutral Britain. NETWORK THIS because earth hangs in the balance

Here is why Nick Clegg is our man.

Vote Lib Dem and enjoy a carbon neutral Britain.

NETWORK  THIS

This is the Analysis of the Environmental Parliament for the choice of Nick Clegg as  our representative for the UK leadership.

He is a good leader to help usher the green economy.

As a matter of fact he is the only real Leader amongst the choices of the candidates from the three main parties.

We trust Nick…

Mainly we trust him and his ambitious efforts to reshape Britain’s energy generation sector and economy for the competitive future in balance with the planet for a sustainable climate and the Environmental future for all.

We trust him to restore Britain’s leadership on the world stage.

Along the same lines of sustainability and we trust Nick to show the way to other nations lagging behind.

A new Green Industrial revolution is what Nick can bring forth.

We trust him to maintain the Vision so elegantly outlined bellow and to execute upon the ecological pledge when in the office on No 10.

Here it is…

Nick Clegg’s pledge for the Environment:

The Lib Dems have gone in front of the electorate to  Get out the environmental vote and win for what the Environmental Parliament and most Climate campaigners say will be the last parliament that can save the world from dangerous levels of earth’s atmospheric warming and an unsustainable climate change.

Nick Clegg launched his strong green pledge,  saying the Liberal Democrats will ban all new nuclear power and also ban all NEW COAL ENERGY FACTORIES.

The Lib Dems’ key pledge is to set a target for a zero-carbon Britain.

“We will set – and stick to – ambitious targets for a zero-carbon future,” said Nick.

In the first year of a new government, the Lib Dems pledge to redirect £3.1bn from other spending programmes to stimulate the creation of 100,000 jobs in renewable energy and home insulation initiatives.

The Lib Dem green pledge also focuses on air travel, promising to tax planes rather than passengers – meaning that empty aircraft or those carrying freight will be taxed – and to charge short-haul flights more if a low-carbon alternative is available. It promised new rail lines paid for by cuts in the major roads budget.

Clegg urged voters to “choose the only party that was taking a stand on saving the planet well before it became fashionable”, noting his party’s support for the 10:10 climate change campaign, which the Environmental Parliament invented, inaugurated and popularized.

The Lib Dem green manifesto says the target for a zero-carbon Britain could be offset up to 10% by buying credits from overseas projects.

Other new pledges concentrated on industrial policy to create low-carbon business zones in every region, following the existing marine energy hub in the south-west and the nascent electric car hub in the north-east and to create green jobs in the industrial areas by shift of focus of industry towards green energy generation.

Other possibilities include concentrating the development of new carbon capture and storage technology for coal power in Yorkshire and Humberside, close to the emptying North Sea oil and gas fields where the emissions might be buried.

Simon Hughes, the Lib Dem spokesman on energy and climate change, said:  ”This country needs a low-carbon Britain, not just low-carbon tiny zones as the Labour government  promotes.”

It is very important to us, that during all the public debates, Nick Clegg always called climate change the greatest challenge for the earth and Britain in particular never diverting attention from the message.

The Lib Dems pledge of governance, outlined why the other three parties will not bode well for the future: Nick Clegg, derided the Conservative Tory climate sceptics for “aligning themselves with climate change deniers within the European parliament.” Then he went on to say that Labour, is the lost government of  ”a party that has had 13 years to deliver on the environment and always failed to do so intentionally.” And lastly Nick, warned against voting for the tiny Green party “that cannot make a difference in the Westminster House of Parliament” citing the small Green party returns, whose leader,  is seen as out of touch with the realities of governance.

All Liberal Democrats agree on all of the European targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions and decarbonize the UK’s energy supply. And they go even further than that even though, most of these CO2 cuts, are already enshrined in UK or EU law yet the Labour government neglected to deliver on them.

And the Lib Dems, want to  make Britain’s notoriously leaky homes and buildings, much more energy-efficient and also want to develop a high-speed rail network and a smart electricity grid.

And they have a specific plan on how to do this:

Lib Dems have gone in front of the electorate to  Get out the environmental vote and win.

Win big and bold for the future of all.

They shall win, and that is why, the Environmental Parliament and most Climate campaigners, agree that this will be the last parliament that change things and stop runaway greenhouse global warming.

This incoming Parliament can save the world from dangerous levels of earth’s atmospheric warming and an unsustainable climate change.

That is Why we want Nick Clegg in the Downing street office.

See the specific policy points and you will yourself agree with the assessment of  the Environmental Parliament.

Specific Policy points for the policy wonks:

• Set target for a zero-carbon UK, but allow 10% of emissions to be offset overseas.

• Spend £3.1bn in the first year on a green jobs stimulus which will lead to 100,000 jobs.

• Tax planes, not passengers, to discourage empty flights, and tax short-haul flights more if trains or coaches are available.

• A road-pricing scheme, making motorists pay for their use, offset by scrapping the vehicle excise duty tax disc.

• Tax financial transactions and aviation and shipping emissions to help poorer countries moderate and adapt to climate change. With more fast rail becoming available under their policies for boosting rail travel – the UK flights will become minimal.

• Create and use industrial policy, for the development of wind turbine and electric cars in the UK, to create half a million green jobs by 2015.

• Use governmental incentives, and subsidies to deliver a low-carbon energy sector and Renewable Energy generation along with a Green Bank.

• Offer the public £5,000 discount for electric cars and 100,000 charging points by 2015.

• Reduce aviation emissions to 2005 levels by 2012.

• Ban all recyclable and biodegradable waste from landfill.

Bold and Strong Actions

• Stop all new generation of nuclear power on the grounds of expense and uncertainty over safety and nuclear waste disposal.

• Scrap the new Infrastructure Planning Commission and return decision-making to local people for all renewable energy projects.

• Commit the UK to a target of 40% emissions cut by 2020,  ahead of the EU.

Home , Transport and Woodlands

• Cut rail fares and make Network Rail refund one-third of ticket cost if rail replacement bus services are used.

• £400 Home cash back scheme for new insulation, double glazing, boilers or solar panels.

• Double woodland by 2050 and create policies to “increase tranquillity” in the countryside.

• Prevent “garden-grabbing” city development by designating gardens as greenfield sites.

The above is the sum total of why Nick Clegg has been voted the Environmental Parliament’s candidate for this election.

Yours,

Pano
