America is a free country….
Anything limiting that freedom is shunned.
All the Republicans and many oil and coal company dependent Democrats oppose even the mildest Climate legislative measures to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and to curb the Energy industry multitude of sins, dirty incentives and excesses.
But this isn’t to be confused with the American people having anything to do with the Oil and Coal companies’ ”freedom” to pollute at will; this beautiful Land, the Waters, and the Air.
If that were the case – then BP would be a Cause Celebre here and the FB buddy of all the Politicians – not just a bit more than half of them; who are receiving their regular dirty campaign contributions.
Besides the ”I am Sorry for my President making you clean up your spill” idiot and the fake tears crocodile Louisiana politico for the Gulf spill…. most politicians aren’t lap dogs for the Big Oil companies.
But it is the Freedom of the People to live in a sustainable world, Free to breathe the Clean Air and drink the clean water that matters to the American people and their children more than anything else… and their new breed of Politicians understand that too well.
But still for some economic reasons, the current elected leaders aren’t free people.
Not yet, it’s true, they aren’t free, but things are-a-changing…
The current politicians are beholden to the polluters. Especially these who have been around the longest have linked their survival to the special oil and coal interests.
And to prove it, here is a sign that special-interest politics trumps even a national emergency such as the Gulf spill, when even now; No Climate Bill is coming out from the Senate…
So maybe in these Primaries the public can send the slaves of the oil companies back home to mull things over and find another job as proper employees of these oilers.
And so it is the people who send in their ballots that get to choose their Freedom. Others aren’t so lucky…
And maybe the New incoming people will understand their Freedom mandate and what it means for the Free people of America.
And they will act for Climate Legislation and Renewable Standards for the Power & Utility Industry to create a level playing field for all Energies to compete based on Merit.
And those who fear that setting standards for the use of renewable energy in the Power and Utility Industry, would distort the market; please consider the effect of all those existing subsidies, economic incentives, tax advantages and/or liability caps for all fossil fuel forms of energy exploration and mining. Incentives going back for more than One hundred and fifty years. Just consider the 1852 mining incentives, no-taxation and no-liability legislation. Or the Oil exploration and wildcatting economic development schemes of the 1890′s. Or even the general Mining legislation in federal lands give aways of the 1882 legislation. These incentives and supports are still practised today when these industries are so mature, they are Geriatric already…
Then Why we raise the hue and cry about removing supports from these highly profitable and polluting industries, one hundred years past their maturity date? Habit. SImple as that…
Force of habit dies hardest. Addiction after all is a form of habitual behaviour and self reward.
All these support schemes for fluorocarbons and their other forms of related fossil energy, from off-shore drilling to CC&S and the Clean Coal and cleaner fuels and by extension even nuclear power must all be removed.
Let them just compete on an equal basis with all other newer technological Energies and less polluting forms of Power. Don’t fear job losses, because as always the New Energies will generate the jobs here. Not the old ones.
And what’s more is that renewable sources of Energy, unlike imported oil, keep all the jobs at home.
Simple measures for Climate Change protection and Energy will create hundreds of thousands of jobs and that is really the Freedom people want now.
Freedom from the inequities of poverty and freedom from being a ward of the state.
People want jobs to be Free and proud to be Americans.
And that Freedom comes with the responsibility of the Leaders to give us a fair Climate legislation to create jobs for the 21st century.
