This year’s multitude of extreme weather disasters, fossil fuel catastrophes and the biggest oil spill ever guzzing into the Gulf of Mexico, off of New Orleans, couldn’t bring about a Carbon legislation in America.
Why?
Why so many senators ignored these events and instead heeded the extreme views of big oil, dirty coal, and their allies rather than those of the American people?
Because money talks.
Simple.
They get bought and sold like sacks of potatoes and corporate sponsorships determine the outcome of elections.
America suffered from its hottest temperatures and worst offshore oil blowout, yet enough senators opposed clean energy reforms that made change impossible so far. At least according to Harry Reid speaker of the House.
Six of the seven companies with the largest lobbying expenditures are Big Oil companies.
Here is the list of the Big Spenders:
1) Exxon Mobil
2) Conoco Phillips
3) Chevron
4) BP
5) Koch Petroleum Industries
6) Shell
What do you think they were buying for this much loot?
Consciousnesses.
That is the commodity they are buying. By the kilo.
Consciousnesses…. for sale.
Fresh from the cryogenic department of the Senate floor.
Accordingly, their 24 month lobbying expenditures totaled upwards of $500 million.
Yes. Half a Trillion dollars… spent in less than two years.
In addition, to the oil majors, the American Petroleum Institute, a Big Oil front group, spent $11 million to lobby Congress to defeat pollution reductions and maintain their tax loopholes, along with another $126 million on television ads just this year alone. Various others spent upwards of $120 million on similar campaigns. The Heartland institute a favourite funding agency of Geoengineering spent another $13 million…
While big oil, dirty coal, and other special interests profit from inaction, everyday Americans will pay the price of doing nothing. Clean energy investments and pollution reductions would create jobs, protect public health, and reduce our oil dependence. But because enough senators caved to special interests, China will get all the clean energy jobs while US is stuck with the dirty energy pollution.
Ironically, this month or in July or in the net year [depending how you measure it], China [will/has] become the world’s largest user of energy, surpassing America for the top spot.
China will also become the largest importer of oil within the next 1o years, while it already is the largest coal importer.
Yours,
Pano
PS:
Your money or your Life.
And now with the addition of corporate sponsorship of free speech for corporation through the Supreme Court, it is corporate money from dirty energy polluting companies that just might determine the next elections.
Are you ready to trust your corporate sponsored politicians running your Life?
Will you trust them equally, less, or more than you trust those Viagra and penis enhancement ads filling up your spam box?
