Christmas baby = Climate child

When you  think of a babe coming on this world, still think of a despotic King Herod looking to slay the child…

And the parents taking the babe in arms and escaping to Egypt as the old tale goes.

Climate refugees are coming to my mind with this parable.

The Allegory of Baby Jesus as a child refugee has actually a strong resonance today, because many children don’t have the possibility of escape from Climate Change and it’s nasty side effects.

Children being the least responsible and the most vulnerable are the prime target of the killing instincts of Climate Change.

And who will speak for them and who will protect them?

In the years to come don’t trust bureaucrats’ posh meetings to stop Ecocide – Act forcefully instead.

In an increasingly warming planet and with extreme weather, with crops on the decline, thawing glaciers. acidic soils and oceans, rising sea levels and melting ice caps in extreme blasts of cold and hot weather… is not questionable when we are fooled into thinking weird weather is not climate change.

But the sobering facts aren’t far behind climate change’s extreme human effects.

Because climate change can and will kill your children.

The international humanitarian organization DARA finds that preventable climate change would kill up to 5 million people in the next 10 years.

And most of those slated for loss are children under the age of 5 in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

This predicted increase in child mortality isn’t due to y animaginative Hollywood-style climate change effects, like giant tsunamis, extreme fires or apocalyptic winters. Instead, the killers are much more mundane.

Rather ordinary… because it turns out to be the same old killers are only given greater powers and a wider leeway by Climate Change making many more children, weaker and more vulnerable.

It’s the old malaria, the dirty water diarrhea, and the ancient devil of malnutrition. And all this without externalities like famines that are surely expected…

It’s the lack of the three basic human rights the Environmental Parliament is fighting for: Right to clean water, right to clean air and adequate food.

And it’s always up to mothers to do their best. Unfortunately climate change enfeebles women in the countries that will be most affected, because the mothers are dirt poor suffering from high gender inequality and no female education to support their offsprings.

Because of this unacceptable situation, in the New Year a new movement has to emerge.

A movement for Climate Justice.

A new movement will be spawn and come around the Environmental Parliament in a free-form to organize and lead the way for a robust, just and equitable Climate Accord.

And we need men to support women at the local level instead of looking out for their own survival solely.

The more that we have men serving as champions for the children affected by climate Change, the more success we will have in saving lives.

And it’s up to communities and not governments either…

They’ve failed on their job already. Climate Change happened on their watch. They were asleep at the switch…

Because make no mistake – without strong mandatory emissions reductions – the world’s governments will be responsible for ecocide.

If we are to avoid ecocide, we cannot rely on government officials meeting in plush golf resorts on Caribbean honey moon tourist traps.

Instead, the solutions will come from climate rebel activists, from organic farmers and from social entrepreneurs.

The solutions will come from Democratic People’s Parliaments around the globe acting on behalf of people and pushing enlightened policies.

The solutions will come from real tireless activists, demonstrators, and socially civil disobedient young people who confront corporate polluters and government’s intrasigence in a fight for their future.

Solutions for Climate Change, will come from passionate scientists and militant environmentalists putting even more pressure on their national governments.

The real solutions will come from those fighting for climate justice on their communities around the globe.

Ultimately, they will come from a generous and peaceful grassroots global movement steeped in the values of balance  and harmony with Nature.

Yours,

Pano

PS:

Civil disobedience and Non violence is key.

Random action and sit ins in corporate locations are very effective means of sharing a message, getting Media attention and shaming the polluters.

The Golden Rule, though has to be observed and Non violence or Ahimsa has to be practiced and always respected even by those enamored by the principles of Eco-terrorists.

Be patient and go forward as wise activists to keep fighting for better outcomes in the future rounds of environmental negotiation, including next year’s talks in Durban…
