Fancy a bit of Mountain view? From the Swiss Alps nonetheless? With cozy movers all shaking in their boots?
Here goes my succinct short take from Davos:
As humans with monkey minds we are attracted to shiny toys and bits of genitalia or gadgets, but most of our really ambitious dreams of yore have never been found nor realized.
You just know the future is here and coming every day but our dreams are nowhere close to reality.
Here in the Environmental Parliament, we track the course of some of some of the biggest unrealized hopes and seek solutions to reach our aspirations in a Democratic fashion.
In terms of Climate Change, we are all on the losing streak and even President Obama is afraid to call it by it’s name. How on earth are we going to fight global warming and the resultant climate change if we are scared to even call Climate Change by it’s name?
Getting the future we want cries out for definition. Proper lawyerly definition. To fight global warming we ought to define the terms properly and the Modus Operandi of our just cause in a global concern.
It’s like wanting to get apples but calling for a different kind of bananas. it’s surreal. Have you tried to order sushi in Kanji with a non Anglo speaking chef? Try it some time for laughs… and see what you’ll be eating.
We wanted weather control, and instead we got freak weather completely out of control.
We wanted a reasonable climate at 350 ppmv of CO2 and we are going to be getting 480 ppmv in two decades time with 4-6 C warming.
How is them apples? We wanted apples but we got bananas. Keep this up and we’ll be growing bananas outdoors in Vermont and even in Canada. Good on them…
We freaking wanted to end infectious diseases and basically eradicate small pox, the Guinea worm, malaria and we managed to spread AIDS and all out of control. And still instead of harnessing those new killers, we instead got new pandemics bubbling all over and the threat of new environmentally enhanced plagues..
Now we are so lost in the mire and depth of shit we get the global gnomes to be calling for undefined BS - BS like shared norms and global aspirations – as if we aren’t even on the same page.
The Future we want isn’t the Future our so called leaders offer… and therefore our option is to change them.
And not just in the Middle East but elsewhere too.
In all places where tyranny of thought, tyranny of poverty or lack of voice prevents us from realizing our dreams and just aspirations.
The winds of change are howling and there aint no wall thats tall enough, nor is there a chasm deep enough nor an army strong enough to stop them.
Fight on.
Yours,
Pano
PS:
Here in Davos at the WEF, the view is spectacular. The rest kind a sucks…
Like the Marie Antoinettes of this world combing their hair while the world is churning and really burning, the so called leaders are pontificating on the sovereign debt failing to realize the real debt is the leader’s aspirations debt towards the people.
I leave this sad lot for the people aren’t even represented here.
Am throwing my lot over with the people of the world seeking to make their dreams their future. This is the common reality.
Am throwing my lot over with the people of Egypt where we visited talked in Alex and it’s here that I sincerely hope for a swift overthrow of the fossilized old western puppet Pharaoh. Kick his ass and let Democracy ring. Fight on…
Same goes for Southern Sudan where we recently visited and advised the ministerial council of the newly independent republic on a sensible Democratic and environmentally sustainable future. Well Done for the people who chose independence from the genocidal and maniacal Khartoum. The democratic referendum for secession from Bashir’s dictatorship was a runaway success. If we are now able to keep war at bay – we stand a chance to have the newly minted 54th country of Africa become a model Democratic nation…
If not we need to fight on here too…
And to the People of Tunisia we salute you and endorse your struggles. We share common ground on the road to Democracy and Justice…
Keep in mind the road is long but so is your civilization.
