And according to current peer reviewed research published in the journal Nature, we will all live through similar extreme climate events, alternating between frequent bouts of drought and much more frequent bouts of floods, and freak weather, all because the global temperatures in most parts of the world shall exceed the much discussed and seen as inevitable and acceptable global warming temperature rise of 2 degrees Celsius during our lifetime.
Monsoons have gone crazy and so have the Nino effects because the global thermostat has been raised by our economic – industrial activity and fossil fuel energy consumption polluting the atmosphere and causing the greenhouse global warming effects that now have switched our weather patterns and climate controls to a new setting: Crazy weather…
And that means that in our lifetime, we will see massive devastation through horrific climate change, climate refugees, climate wars, and global instability, if greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise due to industrial activity and business as usual thinking in our fossil fueled energy sector.
According to the paper in Nature, “Large parts of Europe, Asia, Africa, America, Greenland and others could experience individual five-year average temperatures that exceed the 2 degree Celsius threshold by the year 2030.”
Chances are the majority of us will be around then because this timescale is not so distant.
Industrialized nations have decided on the maximum limit for global warming to be a 2 degrees celsius, in order for the world to avoid dangerous climate change that would lead to more droughts, floods and rising seas. Still most experts say it would have been far safer to hold the world’s temperatures back and avoid going above the 1.5 degree Celsius range of global warming.
A widely recognized truth among scientists is that current global pledges for greenhouse gas cuts are not strong enough to prevent dangerous levels of climate change. And without a global deal on emissions we are fairly accurately screwed. Because next month, all the world’s nations are scheduled to meet at a UN climate summit in Durban South Africa, for the Conference of the Parties Climate meetings but the likelihood for a pact to reduce emissions does not appear to be on the agenda.
And looking into the future by gazing into our crystal ball we can safely say that because of climate deniers PR efforts and incessant Greenwashing from the business community and the fossil fuel industry PR hacks we have no global deal on the radar.
And as the UK and Europe proved in the last few months, no individual nation or small group of nations can address climate change by being a good citizen when all others are stealing and polluting the global atmospheric Commons.
The data published in the journal state that by 2060, most of the world’s land surface is highly likely to experience five-year average temperatures that far exceed the 2 degrees Celsius mark. If emissions are lowered significantly, the threshold could be delayed by several decades…
That is if we’re lucky and the CO2 levels in the atmosphere do not continue rising because of a sustained momentum even after reductions in anthropogenic carbon releases, but due to the natural ecosystems releases. Because natural ecosystems can be tipped and from carbon sinks, they can become carbon release founds, because many effects such as the drying up of the Amazon and the Indonesian Rainforests and the drying up of the methane rich Northern, the Canadian and the Siberian tundras and savannas all contribute to greenhouse gases and CO2 going up unchecked into the atmosphere…
On the flip side, even if global temperatures are stabilized by serious emissions cuts, it will likely still not be possible for some regions of the world to avoid warming and extreme events such as extreme heat waves. And because the climate effects are not equitable, we will see the Equatorial Africa and Asia suffering the greatest heat waves — yet Greenland will experience even greater heat waves…
And as the business PR greenwashers are descending on South Africa next month, organizing high fallutin conferences and World Climate Summits, we are best advised to fight them hard.
Fight them with the same militancy their BS demands. Because they are worse than the fossil fuel dirtiest of polluters since they mask themselves as being helpful to the environment and the activist community half way believes them. Yet they are wolves in sheep’s skins, because they are responsible for being traitors to our Lives pretending to be helpful and honestly helping the Environment, while in reality they are the scum of the earth, as they sell us all down the river.
And they do this rather intelligently, by preventing any reasonable deal from appearing on the horizon in a couple of ways:
One sinister way they do this is by lulling the Premier administrators and all easily duped UN officials, the earnest government bureaucrats and the willingly believing world bodies’ representatives that somehow the burden for offering Climate and Environment safety and security fort their citizens is somehow going to be safeguarded by business. Fat Chance. But the relevant national leaders easily believe anything that large multinationals tell them because they want to believe. And because they want to particularly hear and believe anything – anything at all – that will lighten their administrative load and responsibility from dealing with this super charged and divisive issue. But we are here to put the lie to the test…
And with seven Billion Earth citizens now this particular lie comes to the front.
And the second way this PR greenwashing lie has come to poison all of us is when the Greenwashers drag us unwillingly to our climate doom. And they do this because they put to sleep all the citizens with nice sounding words and by projecting cute leadership personalities from the business world — personalities who pollute and profit from pollution — and put them on a pedestal and projecting their image and convince people into following them. Much like modern day pied pipers pulling the sheeple into thinking that brands and businesses and our Energy companies, through their own initiative, and without regulation, somehow self directed and acting alone and unguided, will self regulate itself. They will manage their emissions and don’t bankrupt our Environmental Commons. Do you believe this load of crap?
Because in reality they only offer constant Greenwashing for the terrible brands of climate damaging general businesses and their energy concerns.
And you know how well self regulation has worked for the Banker wankers, and for the Financial System and for the Global Economic Commons…
So why can’t we believe the PR hack Greenwashers now to sort it out in some posh Hotel in Durban?
Yours,
Pano
PS:
According to another study coordinated amongst the three major Climate and Meteo organizations in Europe — that of Zurich’s Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, and the UK’s Met Office Hadley Center — it is already challenging for the world’s nations to limit the current damages from the current global warming and the extreme storms and unpredictable weather patterns like snowmageddon in the United States on Halloween when the pumpcins are supposed to be harvested.
Never mind what happens when the obvious temperature rises by 2 degrees are officially admitted into our conversations with the brands and their business greenwashers on the World Climate Summits in Durban and elsewhere…
And that is well before we even try to limit emissions in order to limit the temperature warming to 2 degree Celsius.
Because emissions will likely have to peak before the year 2020 and then fall by 44 gigatons of carbon dioxide in that same time frame in order to limit the overall global temperature rise to 2 degrees Celsius.
